Third Plenary Conference and Field Trip of Ponto-Caspian Stratigraphy and Geochronology (POCAS), 11-18 Oct. 2019
Under the auspices of the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science (INIOAS), a series of meetings and field trips that were started as the UNESCO - IUGS - IGCP 610 project, will be continued as the INQUA-POCAS project. This project focuses on the Quaternary stratigraphy and geochronology of the Ponto-Caspian Region, and mainly elaborates on ‘the Caspian to Mediterranean: Stratigraphy, Geochronology, Environmental Change and Human Response during the Quaternary’.
This project is devoted to the environmental change and human response in the Caspian-Black Sea-Mediterranean Corrıdor (CORRIDOR) during the quaternary, where an international team of multidisciplinary scientists (about 300 people from 27 countries) have been stablished to work in close relation bypassing linguistic/political/disciplinary boundaries to link continents (Europe and Asia) more closely, and encourage East-West dialogue and cooperation among researchers.
