Iran and EU Emphasise on the Importance of Expanding Science and Technology Cooperation
Iranian delegates, headed by H.E. Gholami, Minister for Science, Research and Technology, had a meeting with H.E. Carlos Moedas, the European Commissioner for science and technology.
In this meeting, chancellors of universities of Tehran, Allameh Tabataba'i, Isfahan, Kharazmi, and representatives of MoHME and Office of Vice-presidency for Science and Technology, as well as Iran's Science and Technology Representative in Europe were present.
Minister Gholami emphasised on the importance of highlighting the Iran’s scientific rank in the world (such as having the 1st and 16th rank of science production in the region and the world, respectively) as well as on the need for expansion of cooperation between Iran and EU.
Moreover, referring to the total of 4.3 million skilled university students and 43 Science and Technology Parks, Minister Gholami also elaborated on Iran’s achievement and adaptation of science and technology for entrepreneurship in the society.
H.E. Carlos Moedas also announced EU’s will and keen interest on expanding cooperation with Iran, and stated that EU’s current approach to science and technology is to ‘being open to the world for science and technology, rather than prioritising the European countries’.
