Workshop on ‘Innovative Use of ICT for Rehabilitation of Individuals with Learning and Mobility Disabilities’, Tehran 24th, 25th October 2018
In line with the holding of a workshop on ‘Innovative Use of ICT for Rehabilitation of Individuals with Learning and Mobility Disabilities’, in Tehran, the regional representative of UNESCO, along with a number of academics paid a visit to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT), and had a meeting with Prof. Salar Amoli on holding an educational workshop.
Ms Zeynep Varoglu (the Programme specialist for ICT in Education in the Knowledge Societies Division of the communications and Information Sector at UNESCO headquarters in Paris), Ms Naeema Zarif( expert and advisor of OER) and Prof. Alireza Darwishi (lecturer and head of ICT Accessibility Lab at Zurich University of Applied Sciences) were also present in this meeting.
In this meeting, Prof. Salar Amoli emphasized on the importance of education for all individuals in Iranian culture and the country’s educational system, in particular those with learning and mobility disabilities, and for those in need of rehabilitation. He announced MSRT’s readiness for the rehabilitation procedure of those in need, and emphasized on the importance of having comprehensive action plan for mutual cooperation in this field.
Moreover, MSRT’s readiness in providing infrastructure, facilities and OER for rehabilitation was announced, and the need for more cooperation with other ministries and higher education societies were highlighted.
This workshop enabled the participants to have an understanding of the concept of Open Educational Resources (OER) and the potential benefit of OER supporting ICT in Education Teacher- Training with a focus on accessibility.
