Iran-Armenia 1st Joint Working Group, 30 January 2018
Following the visit of Armenian delegates from the Ministry of Education and Science to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (I.R. of Iran), the delegates had a meeting with officials from the MSRT, where a number of university chancellors and representatives were also present.
This meeting was held for facilitating the implementation of the recently signed Memorandum of Understanding, where the two sides agreed on admitting more Armenian and Iranian students at their universities, allocating mutual bursaries allocated, sponsoring short-term programmes and sabbatical leaves. Moreover, Urmia university (as Iran’s coordinating body for collaboration with Armenia), Sharif University of Technology, Allameh Tabatabi University and Payame Noor University also discussed deepening their scientific cooperation with Armenia, in the form of ‘exchange of students and scientists’, ‘admitting PhD candidates’, and ‘establishing Armenian Language Chair in Iran, and Persian Language chairs in Armenia, Caucasus studies’, ‘holding short-term programmes for teaching Armenian language’, and undertaking ‘open-distance learning’.
Armenian Deputy Minister, Dr. Vahram Mkrtchyan, also offered for Armenian universities to provide training in the Medical education, Engineering, Architecture, ICT and Physics in English at university of Urmia.
