Iran is Ready to Expand Scientific and Technological Cooperation with Islamic Countries

Delegates of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, headed by Dr Abdolhossein Fereidoon, the Advisor to the Minister of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) had a meeting with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The OIC participants gathered to discuss and finalise the 10 years OIC programme of science and research.

Referring to existing formation of a new cultural movement in the Islamic world, the Advisor to the Minister stated that according to ISI, contribution of the Islamic countries towards the world’s scientific publications has increased from 2 to 8%, followed by the OIC’s 8 fold growth in the scientific publication.

Dr Fereidoon added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is currently undertaking extensive scientific cooperation with Islamic countries in the fields of Education, Science and innovation, and various centres and organizations regionally and internationally such as the Regional Centre for Expansion of Science and Technology Parks, and the Iranian National Institute for Oceanography and Atmospheric Science are very active in undertaking this cooperation. Moreover, in collaboration with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, Iran is hosting 3 International Islamic networks, including Nano-technology, Science and Technology Parks, and Virtual Universities. He also made several proposals for ‘establishment of a Network for Innovative Women in the Islamic world’, ‘holding joint Scientific mega projects in the fields of Satellite technology, Super computers, and Ocean Studies’.
